Kate Campbell
Singer, Songwriter, Storyteller
Kate Campbell, originally from Sledge, Mississippi, is the daughter of a Baptist preacher whose formative years were forged by the Civil Rights movement of the 1960’s, and those indelible experiences continue to inform her music. She has the eloquent gift of storytelling and has drawn repeated comparisons to southern writers such as Eudora Welty, Flannery O’Connor, and William Faulkner.
Kate released her first album, the award winning Songs from the Levee, in 1994. Since then she has released ten additional albums. Her newest CD, For the Living of These Days, was recorded with the legendary Spooner Oldham. Kate’s releases display a variety and diversity that is quite uncommon among today’s singer-songwriters. |
